Our Purpose
The purpose of the Winona Pentecostal Church is to create an evironment that encourages a Growing relationship with Jesus Christ, to Serve the needs of people in our community, and Reaching out with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Growing - His Mind, His Heart
Serving - His Hands, His Feet
Reaching - Spreading the Good News of the Gospel
Our purpose is based upon the Great Command and the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.
The Great Command: Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' [38] This is the first and great commandment. [39] And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
Jesus instructs us to love Him with everything we've got. This is a life long process. Fulfilling this first part of the Great Commandment deepens our relationship with the Lord, and by doing so, we acquire His Mind and His Heart.
Jesus then says that we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. He is instructing us to love people the way that He would love them. He wants His people to be His Hands and His Feet in service to the poor, the outcast, the broken, the bound, and anyone in need.
The Great Commission: Luke 24:45-47 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. [46] Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, [47] and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Mark 16:14-16 Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. [15] And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Jesus spent His last days on the earth opening His disciple's understanding of the scriptures and commanding that they spread the wonderful news of salvation to every creature. We believe that there is no greater message for the world today, and consider it one of the greatest obligations that the church must fulfill.
